Let go and Let God

This song came up in a Facebook memory today, and reflects a lot on what I have been thinking about recently.

"The secret of life is letting it go, the secret of love, is in letting it show; in all that I say, in all that I do" "The power of change is in giving my life"

How many times do we see things around us that we want changed, maybe in our own lives, or a family member, or in our community, our church? How many times have we said 'I want to do something about that, I want to help'?

I ask you a question...are you sure that your God is in control? Do you want his will to be done in your life? God has a special plan and purpose for each of our lives, something specific that he has given us to do. An old and wise preacher once told me 'Just because it is a good thing doesn't mean that it is a God thing'. Many times in our lives, we can become distracted by wanting to do something, wanting to help, wanting to do our part, and we forget that we must first present it to the Lord. He is the maker and creator of each of the lives on this earth, including our own; and if we want the best for our family members, for that person in need, he loves them and even more so wants what is best for them.

There are times when God takes us and will put us in a ministry, in someones life that we are praying about, and say help them, do this. But there are other times when we must place it in His hands, and allow him to do the work in our lives and in their lives.

On the other hand, it is important that we show what we feel, what we believe...Faith without works is dead, and a christian not doing anything is one that is not hearing Gods voice and seeing the needs around him.

So the question is, what does God want you to do? In what way can you show his love to those in need around you today? He may not call upon you to do more than pray, more than share a smile or kind word. He may ask of you to give all, to go above and beyond what you may have thought possible or necessary. But he is Lord, and he knows whats best.

My challenge is this...Is he the Lord of your life? Are you willing to follow his leading? He may ask of you to give much more than you thought or are comfortable with. He also may ask you to leave it in his hands and continue on in some other ministry...Are you willing to obey and follow?? To give of the best that you have, your very life in obedience to him?? He gave his life for ours.

'I will follow you my Saviour, wheresoever thy path may lead. Where thou goest I will follow, thou didst shed thy blood for me; by thy grace i'll follow Thee!"
