Today, I saw revival.
Walking down the darkened streets Dark enough to make even noonday fade; Streets full of people, wandering about, People who lend to the streets their shade. Shades of gray, shades of black: Shattered hopes, life without design; A rainbow of gray scale, from bad to worse, Actions and thoughts, from each heart and mind. Touching cruelly without bias or care, Ebbing back and forth, between every soul in sight; Spilling from one to another, waves of doubt and despair, Everywhere I look, darkness creeps to annihilate. Up ahead, around the corner, I perceive movement: Not the end and flow of murky and cold; Rather a spot of light, warm and enticing Coming from a lone traveller on the road. A lone emissary, but with a purpose: Moving from one pool of gloom to another; With a kind deed given, and a soft word spoken: The darkness diswayed, reveals the heart of a child. Today, I saw God move: Taking the outstretched hands of one willing, Using these hands as his own, to do his bidding: Changing the murk and gloom into a rainbow of color. Look at those now perceivable through the gloom: A hungry child's face, still dirty but glowing; This young girl of the street, her tears now flowing; A young man's despairing face, now with a shadow of hope; That broken family, drawn together by the warmth of the light. Today, I saw God's revival. It wasn't in the four walls of the church, It wasn't in the midst of the thousands; It was in the heart of one willing, Who with their hands and mouth, showed the love of God, To a world forgotten and forsaken by his people. Hope flowing out of action and deed, Life growing from one kind word; Light pooling and reflecting one soak to another, Love, come down straight from the Father. Today, in these darkened streets, black with despair, I saw revival.
