Local protests

Please pray for Ecuador, and the Napo province where we live...

For ten days there has been an increasing resistance of the inhabitants against a maximum security prison that the government is about to build here, in Archidona.

It started out as protests and blocking the roads, but has quickly escalated as the government has not given into their demands to move the prison, even after the local authorities and the national assembly advised they were against it as well.

The roadblocks (on all roads in and out) became concrete late last week, not allowing vehicles in or out of the while province (We we're blessed to have been told of a small back road we could use to get back in, on Sunday; that two was closed soon after)

Since Wednesday, when the president advised the leaders of the opposition that he will not give in to their demands, and the jail will be built regardless, things are getting worse very quickly. More and more people from all over the jungle provinces are pouring in to support the protests, with a large march that number thousands taking over the government building late last night, setting to flight the platoon of police that were protecting it.

Things are escalating quickly, with violence already happening in remote cases, but group violence and a confrontation appears to be just around the corner.

Please pray for Ecuador!!!
