School sports!

Soccer (or football, as it is known in literally the rest of the world!) is by far the most popular sport in Latin America, and Ecuador is no exception! The kids' school has a short intra-school soccer season, very different from the way sports are played in the US. Here, school sports are not extra-curricular, but rather a part of school/PE, played for a month or so during school hours, and the other subjects are put aside for the couple of hours a week each grade plays. Our school only has the games internally, so the grades that are closer together play against each other (K3-1, 2-4, 5-7, 8-9 this year).

They had a big inauguration event today that the kids loved! Now games for the next 5 weeks!
